I Made a Quilt.

I must admit that when I first joined Pinterest, I was overwhelmed and discouraged every time I visited the site.  Too many great ideas in one place.  But I have to say that it has encouraged me to try things that I wouldn’t normally try.  Like making a quilt.

I saw that one of my friends had pinned this pattern and by looking at the picture and assigning a hypothetical measurement to one of the pieces, I was able to figure out the measurements of all of the pieces, how many I’d need, etc.  There is a shop near me that has every single quilting fabric you could imagine – a seamstress’s dream.  I picked out several fat quarters of fabric that I liked and then cut them into the pieces I knew I needed. I sewed them together, got some fabric for the back, picked up some batting, and went to work.

Binding the quilt was the worst part.  It was easy to do, but because I was stitching through so much fabric and thick batting without a quilting foot (oops…), I could not POSSIBLY get the stitching even.  The following close-up is the most even segment I could find (like I’d show you the yucky parts).

It’s a quilt only a mother could love…but it’s mine.  I made it.
